In this first edition of 2008, Volume 5 of JISTEM, Revista de Gestão da Tecnologia e Sistemas de Informação (Information Systems and Technology Management Journal), we published articles about Technology and Systems Management, and Knowledge Management as well. The articles discuss and search for the answers to important questions for both the subject's development and to define best practices in business management.

In this edition, there is an article written by foreign authors and seven articles by Brazilian authors from 5 different states. Out of the eight articles, the first is:
