Os autores analisaram retrospectivamente 29 pacientes internados com a síndrome de Guillain-Barré-Strohl, objetivando identificar índices de gravidade da doença no que se refere ao desenvolvimento de complicações e ao óbito. Concluíram serem índices de gravidade a presença de sinais sensitivos, disfunção neurovegetativa, insuficiência respiratória, disfunção esfincteriana e longo tempo de permanência hospitalar.


The authors analysed retrospectively 29 in-patients with Guillain-Barré-Strohl syndrome intending to recognize severity indexes as far as the development of complications and death are concerned. Sensory signs, autonomic dysfunction, respiratory insuficiency, sphineteric disturbances and a longer time in hospital turned out to be severity indexes, when present in these patients.

RESUMO

Os autores analisaram retrospectivamente 29 pacientes internados com a síndrome de Guillain-Barré-Strohl, objetivando identificar índices de gravidade da doença no que se refere ao desenvolvimento de complicações e ao óbito. Concluíram serem índices de gravidade a presença de sinais sensitivos, disfunção neurovegetativa, insuficiência respiratória, disfunção esfincteriana e longo tempo de permanência hospitalar.

SUMMARY

The authors analysed retrospectively 29 in-patients with Guillain-Barré-Strohl syndrome intending to recognize severity indexes as far as the development of complications and death are concerned. Sensory signs, autonomic dysfunction, respiratory insuficiency, sphineteric disturbances and a longer time in hospital turned out to be severity indexes, when present in these patients.
