Works submitted to the RCA will be preliminarily evaluated by the Editorial Committee and only then will be sent to at least two (02) reviewers in the area, and only published if approved by both reviewers and the editorial board. Articles will be published based on originality, quality and scientific merit, with the editorial committee having the final decision. The identity of the authors and reviewers will remain confidential throughout the process. The journal administration will ensure that the reviewers of each article are, necessarily, from institutions other than that of the authors. Any article with more than five authors will not be accepted by the Revista Ciência Agronômca, except under special conditions (see Authors). No a posteriori changes to the names of the authors will be allowed.

2. All the authors should be registered in the system;

3. Only the final version of the article should contain the name of all the authors, identified in a footnote, including title;

4. Identification and full address of the corresponding author.

3. Formatting the Article

Typing: A maximum of 20 double-spaced pages in Times New Roman, normal, size 12 font with a paragraph indentation of 1 cm. All margins should be 2.5 cm. Lines should be numbered continuously.

Structure: Scientific articles should have the following order: title, title in English, authors, resumo in Portuguese, palavras-chave in Portuguese, abstract in English, keywords in English, introduction, material and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, acknowledgments (optional) and references. Scientific notes do not need to follow the structure of articles, but should contain the title in English, resumo and palavras-chave in Portuguese, and abstract and keywords in English.

Title: The title should be written with only the first letter capitalised, in bold type, centred on the page, and contain a maximum of 15 words. A numbered footnote, called from the title, should contain information on the nature of the work (whether extracted from a thesis/dissertation, whether funded research), including references to any collaborating institutions. The titles of the remaining sections of the structure (resumo, palavras-chave, abstract, keywords, etc) should be written with only the first letter capitalised, in bold type and left-justified.

Authors: The full names of the authors (with no abbreviations) should come below the title with only the first letter capitalised, one after the other, separated by a comma and centred on the line. A footnote on the first page should show the complete affiliation (department, centre, institution, city, state and country) and electronic address of each author; the full address of the corresponding author should also be shown. The corresponding author should be identified by an "*". Articles with more than five authors will only be accepted when the research can be shown to have been conducted in separate regions. In the first version of the submitted article, the names of the authors and the footnote should be omitted. Introduction: The introduction should be compact and objective, containing current citations that are related to the subject addressed in the research. Any citations included in the introduction should be used to support discussion of the results, thereby setting the scene for a study of the method and discussion of the results. The introduction should contain no more than 550 words.

Citing authors in the text: Citations should follow the norms shown in ABNT No 10520 of August 2002.

3. Checklist - Revista Ciência Agronômca

Aiming at greater agility in the submission of articles, the Editorial Committee of the Revista Ciência Agronomica has prepared a checklist so that authors can check the format of their manuscript BEFORE submitting it for publication. The list was prepared in accordance with the norms of the Revista Ciência Agronômca. NEGATIVE answers mean that your article requires further adaptation to the norms of the journal. The submission of such articles will result in their return and a delay in processing.

POSITIVE answers mean that your article is in accordance with the norms and will be processed more quickly.

A. Regarding the work

1. Is the work original?
2. Does the work represent a scientific contribution to the field of Agricultural Sciences?
3. Is the work being submitted exclusively to the Revista Ciência Agronômca?

B. Regarding formatting

4. For work ready to be submitted online, are the names of the authors included?
5. Does the work contain a maximum of 20 pages? Is it in A4 format; is it double-spaced, including references; is the font Times New Roman, 12 pt, including titles and subtitles?
6. Are the margins set at 2.5 cm, the page numbers placed in the upper right margin, and are the lines numbered continuously?
Was the paragraph indentation of 1 cm defined in the paragraph format? Remember that the journal does not accept paragraph indentation using the ‘TAB’ key or space bar.
8. Is the structure of the work in accordance with the norms of the journal, i.e. is it in the following order: title in Portuguese, title in English, authors, resumo in Portuguese, palavras-chave in Portuguese, abstract in English, keywords in English, introduction, material and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements (optional) and references?
9. Does the title have a maximum of 15 words?
10. Does the resumo in Portuguese and the abstract in English each have a maximum of 250 words?
11. Do the keywords contain between three and five terms, start with an uppercase letter and end with a period or full stop?
12. Does the introduction include citations that are current and related to the subject addressed in the research, and does it have a maximum of 550 words?
13. Were any citations included in the introduction used to support a discussion of the results?
14. Are the citations in accordance with the norms of the journal?
15. Are the tables and figures formatted according to the norms of the journal, and are they inserted immediately after first being referenced? Remember, the use of ‘enter’ in cells that make up the tables is not permitted.
16. Are the tables, if any, in portrait format?
17. Are the figures of high quality (resolution of at least 500 dpi)?
18. Are the units and symbols used in your work within the norms of the International System adopted by the Revista Ciência Agronômica?
19. Are numbers separated by commas? Are the units separated from the number by a space? Remember, there should be no space between a number and the % symbol.
20. Does your work include between 20 and 30 references, 60% of which were published less than 10 years ago in indexed periodicals?
21. Is each reference cited in the text?
22. Are all the references cited in the text correctly described according to the norms of the journal, and are they listed?

C. Observations:

1. Remember that IF the rules of the journal are not strictly followed, your work will not be processed. It is therefore better to delay submitting your article for a few more days and check all the norms. Referring to work already published in your area may help to resolve any doubts and can act as a model (access the journal at http://www.ccarevista.ufc.br/busca).
2. If your responses are all AFFIRMATIVE, your work can be submitted with greater confidence. If you still have any NEGATIVE responses, your work will be returned, delaying the process.
Remember: If your article is returned a second time due to a problem with the norms, in particular the references, the submission will be cancelled, and the submission fee will not be refunded. It is therefore extremely important that the authors carefully check whether the article meets the norms required by the Revista Ciência Agronômica.
3. ALWAYS try to follow the status of your work in the online system of article management on the website of the journal (http://ccarevista.ufc.br).
4. This checklist does not replace the technical review made by the journal, to which all articles will be submitted.
