Instructions to authors

1 The Brazilian Journal of Special Education publishes papers whose focus is Special Education. The receiving of the papers is in continuous flow according to order of arrival. The evaluation period of the manuscript may take from one to six months. The deadline for publication can take from 12 to 18 months. The online journal is open to the entire scientific community through SciELO. To ensure a democratic space in the journal, each author and/or coauthor may publish only one paper per year. However, authors and/or coauthors who own a paper in evaluation cannot submit another paper until they have the final opinion of the first submission.

2 The collaborations can be presented as:

2.1 Research report;
2.2 Theoretical essay;
2.3 Literature review;
2.4 Review.

3 The papers must be unpublished (preferably in Portuguese, English or Spanish), and the journal shall be solely responsible for its publication. The manuscripts must meet the following criteria:

3.1 Adequacy to the scope of the journal;
3.2 Scientific quality (originality, theoretical-methodological quality, dialogue with national and international literature)  attested by the Editorial Committee and after consulting the Advisory Board;
3.3 Compliance with these guidelines;
3.4 Once accepted, the papers may undergo non-substantial alterations (grammatical corrections and stylistic adjustments) in the text editing stage.
3.5 Reviews should contain no more than two pages and should be written by no more than two authors. Only those essays whose year of publication of the work is the year of publication of the journal or immediately prior to publication will be accepted. For example, if the journal is being published in 2012, the work must have been published in 2012 or 2011.

4 Acceptance and revision of the texts: The review of the papers occurs in two stages. In the first, two reviewers of the Editorial Committee will perform a screening of the manuscripts to verify the fulfillment of the publisher guidelines. In the second stage, the manuscripts received are sent (excluding the name of the authors) to two reviewers belonging to the ABPEE Advisory Board which indicate acceptance, refusal or the necessary reformulations. In case of discordant review, the paper will be analyzed by the editors that define or not its publication based on the indications of the opinions. The revision of technical standardization is carried out by the editors.

5 There is no remuneration for the works.

6 There is no submission or paper evaluation fee for the journal.

7 The authors who submit papers to the journal and have a doctoral degree should commit to making evaluative opinions for the journal during the editorial process of the submitted paper. This commitment should be declared in the Forwarding Letter which must be signed by all authors.

The Journal adopts the Turnitin software for identification of plagiarism and/or self-plagiarism.

8 RBEE is committed to complying with ethical issues related to papers based on the following documents: a) Resolution CNE No. 466/2012 (Ethics in research with human beings); b) Resolution CNS no.  510/2016; c) CNPq documents – Ethics and integrity in scientific practice.

9. RBEE follows the guidelines of APA 7th edition – American Psychological Association (APA, 2019).
