About the journal

Basic information

INTERAÇÕES - Revista Internacional de Desenvolvimento Local is a periodical created by the Post-Graduate Program in Local Development – Master’s Degree and Doctorate, hierarchically linked to the Research and Postgraduation Dean’s Office. Since its first edition, in September of 2000, the periodical aims to give information, for the adoption of new local forms of social behavior efficient forms for the generation of endogenous development, according to means, rules and appropriate strategies, respecting cultural diversity and autonomous management of resources and technical characteristics of territories.

It also became an imperative, towards the Stricto Sensu Post-Graduate Program in Local Development – Master’s Degree and Doctorate, for the consolidation of publications that would contribute not only for the formation of researchers and, consequently, for the scientific development, but also for the constant knowledge updates on the Local Development area. It aims, therefore, to suggest a character of diversity, which is present in notions of nature that are widely shared worldwide.

Also the photograph on the cover makes clear one of the greatest concerns of the researchers in the area of knowledge in question: the development on a human scale, or man placed in the center of the development process.

Responsibilities of the editor-in-chief

According to the standards set out in the SciELO Guide and followed by Interações, transparency and quality control are essential qualities of the editorial process. The responsibilities of the editors-in-chief pervades the implementation of editorial policy, the supervision of the editorial process and the relations of the journal with authors, reviewers, readers, indexers, research support agencies, the scientific community and the general public (SCIELO, 2018, p. 2).

Conduct of the researcher/author/co-author

Regarding best practices for strengthening the ethics in scientific publication, the editorial process, after complying with the formal aspects required, ensures that all authors review and take accountability for the content and record the contribution of each one at the end of the manuscript (SCIELO, 2018, p. 2).

Any conduct that may represent a violation of the values and defining principles of ethical integrity in scientific research is termed misconduct in the relations among researchers.

Scientific misconduct should be measured by the degree of involvement in a clear intention of plagiarism, defraud or by the type of deviation from accepted practices by the scientific academy. The most frequent serious misconduct is as follows:

  • fabrication of data, procedures or results in a modified form that has been obtained irregularly or falsely;
  • falsification of data, procedures or research results, with inaccuracy or incompleteness of information, in such a way that damages the scientific merit of the research;
  • plagiarism with formulations used in oral or written form, without attributing deserved credit to authors.
