The objective of Fractal : Revista de Psicologia is to diffuse and discuss the academic and scientific production. Its purpose is to recognize the need of coexistence among the many kinds of research in the psychology field, stimulating the constant debate as a mean of encouraging the scientific production. At the same time, it aims to motivate the dialog with different fields of knowledge, whose subjects are related to the studies of subjectivity.

Fractal : Revista de Psicologia is the new name of the Journal of Psychology Department - UFF. This one was created at the year of 1989 as a local publication linked to UFF's Department of Psychology. After almost 20 years of publication, the Editorial Council considered that its name did not suit the profile of the journal, which had conquered an important space in the Psychology's national scene. Because of that, at the year of 2009, the Journal of Psychology Department - UFF was renamed to Fractal : Revista de Psicologia.

Its abbreviated title is Fractal, Rev. Psicol., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and and bibliographical references and strips.
