Preparing the manuscript
The Journal Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) adopts the American Psychological Association – APA (7th edition, 2020) publication rules, with some own style adaptations.
The Journal provides the following template [Template]
Text structure
The pages must have personalized numbering starting from the cover sheet (which should be numbered as number 1). The paper must be A4 size, with the formatting of upper and lower margins (at least 2.5 cm), left and right (at least 3 cm), with space between lines 1.5, font Arial 12. The file must be written in a text editor similar to the 2010 Word version.
It is strongly recommended that the author(s) seek professional linguistic advice (proofreaders and/or certified translators in Portuguese and English) before submitting originals that may contain inaccuracies and/or morphological, syntactic, idiomatic or style inadequacies.

Formatting references should facilitate the task of reviewing and editing. To this effect, spacing before and after 12 pt with 1.5 spacing and font size 12 pt must be used, and in accordance with the APA style (7th edition, 2020);

The presentation of numerical and statistical information, as well as the preparation of tables and figures must follow the APA manual (7th edition, 2010) recommendations;

Illustrations (Figures, Charts and Tables) must be inserted after the References section, one illustration per page, regardless of its size, and within the maximum limit of 25 pages. It should be noted that illustration must also be forwarded in separate and editable files.
The cover sheet should contain:

Full title in Portuguese:
-
Must be concise and avoid unnecessary and/or redundant words;
-
Without abbreviations and acronyms or geographic location of the investigation;
-
It should be limited to a maximum of 15 words.
-
Full title in English, consistent with the title in Portuguese.

Mandatory suggestion of a short title for the header, not exceeding 40 characters (including spaces), in Portuguese (or Spanish) and English.

Name of each author, in full (do not abbreviate first names), and their number of the ORCID® record. Registration is available for free at: https://orcid.org/.

Inform the academic title data of the authors (if master’s, doctor, etc.), the current institution affiliation (only one link per author, on 3 levels (Ex: University, Faculty, Program, Center, School, Department), without abbreviations or acronyms), as well as city, state and country.

Indication of the corresponding author who should be based on the highest academic degree, with the full address of the institution to which he/she is affiliated.

Inform telephone and e-mail of all authors. These data will not be released under any circumstances, with the exception of the e-mail of the appointed corresponding author.

Inform, explicitly, the contribution of each of the authors in the article, in plain text of up to four lines;

Inform if the article stems from a Dissertation or Thesis, indicating the title, author, university and year of publication;

Inform if the article has been submitted to any Preprints platform. If so, inform the name of the repository and the complete reference of the article
Footnotes indicating financial support and the case and/or notice number, acknowledgment of collaboration of colleagues and technicians may be included [explain the reason, for example: critical review of the manuscript, data collection, etc.]. It is mandatory to send the permission of the nominees. Acknowledgments to institutions that supported the research can be included, in a paragraph not exceeding three lines.
Note: this should be the only part of the text with the identification of the authors, and other types of notes will not be accepted (except in the translation of citations).
The processing of the article will only start after the inclusion of this information on the cover page.
Abstract
In Portuguese
The abstract must contain a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 150 words. The use of acronyms, abbreviations or citations is not allowed.
The abstract should include a brief reference to the problem investigated, sample characteristics, the method used for data collection, results and conclusions.
The keywords or descriptors must be drawn from the Health Sciences Terminology (DeCS) or Psychology Terminology. For free search terms, the SciELO Index can also be used.
The keywords or descriptors must be written in lowercase letters, separated by semicolons. The abstract should contain, at the end, 3-5 keywords that accurately describe the content of the work.
The keywords should not be present in the title.
In English
The abstract in English must be consistent with the text of the abstract in Portuguese, following the same rules, and followed by the keywords obtained from the Terminology in Health Sciences (DeCS) or Psychology Terminology.
Article organization
The text of all works submitted for publication must have a clear organization and titles and subtitles that facilitate reading.
For quantitative articles, the text must present:
Introduction: development of the problem under investigation, including its historical background, and statement of the purpose of the investigation.
Method: description of the procedures used to conduct the investigation, including consistent information about the participants, instruments and procedures used. At the end of this section, there must be a clear statement regarding the compliance with the ethical procedures adopted and provide the approved case number.
Results: should report the most important results and analyses, which respond to the research objectives.
Discussion: it includes abstract, interpretation and implication of the results; it should explore, properly and objectively, the effects discussed in the light of other observations already reported in the literature. The limitations of the study as well as suggestions for future research should be pointed out. Include the conclusion of the work and final considerations in this section.
For qualitative articles, the sections may vary according to their content order.
Abbreviations and acronyms: should be used in a standardized manner, and should be limited only to those used conventionally or sanctioned for use, accompanied by the meaning, in full, at the first citation in the text. The journal does not adopt acronyms in the plural. They should not be used in the title and abstract.
Citations
Foreign language citations translated by the authors should be written in their original language in the footnote. The source indication must include the wording: Our translation. Ex.: (Pfeiffer, 2015, p. 24, our translation).
Secondary references will not be accepted, that is, citation from the original author (apud).
Do not use the terms apud, op. cit, id. ibidem, and others. They are not part of the APA standards.
Citations of articles of multiple authorship should be made as follows:
Article with two authors: quote the two authors whenever the article is referred to.
Articles with three or more authors: use the first author's surname followed by et al. and the year, starting with the first citation in the text.
Ambiguity in citations: to avoid ambiguity, when the text cites multiple papers with three or more authors with the same publication year, the number of authors needed to distinguish the publication should be referenced. For instance: Teles, Marques, Júlio, et al. (2018); Teles, Marques, Harcourt, et al. (2018).
Citations of works with the same authorship and date: distinguish them by placing lowercase letters after the year, both in the text citation and in the reference list entry. For instance: (Ortega et al., 2010a, 2010b, 2010c).
Old and reissued works: In the case of old citations, with new editions of the work, the quote must include both dates, the original and the date of the edition read by the author. For example: Freud (1912/1969, p.154).
In the case of a citation, with up to 40 words, it must be enclosed in quotation marks in the text, with indication of the author's last name, the date and the page.
Citations with more than 40 words must come in a new paragraph, with single spacing, font size 11 and with a 4cm indentation in the left margin. Literal quote of 500 words or more must be allowed by the original author
References
References and citations must be standardized according to the APA style (7th edition, 2020).
There should be a prevalence (50%) of references from the last 5 years and extracted from indexed journals (mandatory item).
No citations/references of monographs for completion of undergraduate courses will be accepted, besides abstracts of works from Congresses, Symposia, Workshops, Meetings, among others, and unpublished texts (classes handouts, among others).
If a work, by one of the authors of the manuscript and/or other sources is in the process of being published but is cited (that is, an article in press), it is mandatory to submit a copy of the acceptance letter (article already approved with expected publication) of the Journal that will publish that article. Otherwise, the quote/reference will be excluded. In any case, articles in press should be avoided.
If unpublished data obtained by other researchers are quoted in the manuscript, it will be necessary to include a permission letter to use such data issued by their authors.
Works with a single author must come before works of multiple authorship, when the surname is the same.
In the case of works in which the first author is the same, but the co-authors are different, the alphabetic order of the co-authors' last names must be taken as a criterion.
Articles by the same authors must be ranked by date, the oldest coming first. Works with the same authorship and the same date must be differentiated into "a" and "b".
Authors' names should not be replaced by dashes or hyphens.
All addresses with Internet links (URL) in the references must be active and lead directly to the document cited.
When the mentioned document has a DOI number (Digital Object Identifier), it must be informed, waiving the date of access to the content (see examples of electronic material). The prefix https://doi.org/... should be used.
The formatting of the references should facilitate the task of reviewing and editing. Thus, spacing before and after 12 pt with 1.5 spacing and font size 12 pt be used. Each of the references must be presented as a new paragraph, with 0.5 cm indentation of the left margin from the second line. The inclusion of references of articles already published in the journal Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) is suggested as a way of increasing its impact factor.
The accuracy and appropriateness of references to works that have been consulted and mentioned in the text of the article are the author’s responsibility, just as the content of the works is his/her sole responsibility.
All authors, whose works are cited in the text, must be followed by the date of publication and listed in the References section.
