Pharmaceutical care: discourses and actions in the capital of the Empire of Brazil (1850-1880)

The discussion of health care provided by pharmacists during the Nineteenth century, in Rio de Janeiro, from an elite medical and pharmaceutical meeting in scientific and professional associations themselves, exposes intersubjectivities experienced by this group around of speeches and actions towards the implementation of drug therapy. It should produce a reflection on the tensions, alliances or dependencies experienced mainly by pharmacists in relation to physician, the druggists, and even the Imperial State or its official representatives, the establishment of health legislation and monitoring compliance.
