Recovering the history of childhood in Brazil constitutes an arduous task undertaken by historians since the last decades of the twentieth century. Existing research attempts to give voice to boys and girls through research and revaluation of historical documentation. Despite recent progress, little is known about the children's literature, games, health and in the education in the nineteenth century. Thus, this study intends to provide relevant information on living conditions, illnesses and diet of children in the interior of Brazil from this period, from the records of death issued by the charity Hospital São Pedro de Alcântara of Goiás city.
