Rodrigo Otávio and Cyro dos Anjos were in Mexico to accomplish diplomatic and political duties. Rodrigo Otávio visited the country for the first time in 1923 and Cyro dos Anjos did the same thirty years later. In this article the written records that they left will be analyzed (Rodrigo Otávio's travel book and Cyro dos Anjo's personal and official letters) in order to know how both intellectuals conceived the country, regarding their professional and affective ties with it, in times when the cultural and intellectual relations between Mexico and Brazil were scarce and sporadic.
