The journal Archivos de psiquiatría, criminología, medicina legal y ciencias afines (directed by José Ingenieros and edited between 1902 and 1913) plays a key role at national and continental level, as a privileged instance to consolidate the psychiatry and the criminology as scientific disciplines. This publication creates an unprecedented Latino American network of authors and ideas in these fields, with a center in Buenos Aires. This article considers the type of Latino American identity that it outlines and the type of popular cultures that are indirectly modeled from the cases studied.
