Shared accommodation in iconic architectures: an analysis of the Copan Building in São Paulo, SP.

Abstract: Shared hosting is becoming a new alternative for users, mainly through the Airbnb platform, where it is also possible to stay in iconic architectures, such as the Copan Building. The aim of the study is to analyze the perceptions of users who stay at Copan through Airbnb. Specifically, it seeks to understand what are their motivations, to assess whether the attractiveness is linked to their reference as a landmark and to investigate the offer of accommodation at Copan by Airbnb. The election of Copan as the object of study occurred because it is considered a landmark in the urban landscape of São Paulo, in addition to its importance in the context of modernist residential architecture. The descriptive-exploratory study is based on a bibliographic search and on the analysis of 3,587 comments extracted from Airbnb ads, analyzed with the aid of the Iramuteq software. The results show that the most present aspects, both in the advertisements and in the evaluations, are related to the visuals provided by the architecture of Copan. It is noticed, therefore, that there is a correlation between what is presented by the hosts and what is pointed out in the evaluations by the users.
