The multiterritoriality of Arraial do Cabo (RJ) tourism workers

Abstract:

Considering the interrelations of the tourism phenomenon various agents, we recognize a space marked by multiterritorialities, which is resulted by the different territories superposition in space, including that worker's territories. In this context, this article seeks to understand the multiterritoriality of the Arraial do Cabo (RJ) tourism workers, specifically the hotel workers, taking account of their work, leisure, and housing spaces, and functional and symbolic aspects. The field research, configured as qualitative nature, consisted of interviews with the semi-structured forms support, based on Baptista's (2014) theoretical-methodological guidelines. The analysis of the results allowed us to observe that the mobilities of tourism workers who live in Arraial do Cabo are still restricted by the level of possibility (Lévy, 2001), since the offer of leisure for this group is scarce, limiting their articulations and mobility, also being weakened in its symbolic aspect.
