ABSTRACT
This article presents, through a provocation to nine historians from different institutions and countries, the impact of the pandemic on their profession and on the field of history. Their reflections were developed from three questions: (1) In what ways has living under the current pandemic affected your historical writing or thinking? Has it brought new questions to the fore or pushed you to rethink some of your past work?; (2) (How) should historians engage in public affairs relating to the current pandemic context? Should historians be involved in policymaking? Is it appropriate for historians to play active roles in the media or should we step back and let our publications speak for themselves?; (3) What historical themes, perspectives, and topics are missing from the historiography published/produced during these pandemic years? What pieces/kinds of work have you most appreciated?
