ABSTRACT
Objective:
to present a theoretical discussion about the political competence of nurses in the face of the phenomenon of the spread of fake news and small truths.
Discussion:
based on critical philosophical-political thinking, the concept of factual truth is described and discussed, as opposed to that of opinion, and its implications in the political and health fields. Based on the concept of the nurse's work process, issues considered central to their political competence are discussed.
Conclusion:
the importance of developing the political competence of nurses in the face of changing demographic, social and political scenarios and threats to health as a universal right is reiterated.
