Aging in Brazil: social, political and demographic aspects under analysis

Abstract:

The article discusses the phenomenon of the aging of Brazilian society, based on the antagonistic relations of social classes in capitalism. It situates the dependence of the working class on public and social policies in aging. The bibliographic review references the social protection legislation and analyzes the socio-demographic data. Access to these policies made it possible to improve the living conditions of the elderly, a trend that was reversed from the neoliberal counter-reform of the State.
