Playing mean: Everyday interactions among male high school freshmen in Cordoba, Argentina

This article focuses on every day interactions among male eighth graders (high school freshmen) in the poorer districts of the city of Cordoba, Argentina. It looks at violence among classmates as emergent among youth context of early secondary school, where social taxonomies are activated and reconstituted. The local social category playing mean works as analyzer of gender-based identity in the process of student differentiation, performing a game of differences and oppositions in the routine process of doing gender.
