ABSTRACT
This study aimed at investigating the treatment and rehabilitation of users of the Psychosocial Care Center Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS -AD) in Caxias do Sul (RS), Brazil from the perspective of professionals who work in this unit. This qualitative research was carried out with professionals who have a college degree, from September to November 2011. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection. Content analysis, based on themes, proposed by Minayo, was used for the data analysis. Results show the importance of the development of bonds between the team and the users, the construction of specific therapeutic projects to meet the subjects' needs and abilities, the family's role in the context of addiction to psychoactive substances and the motivation for treatment and rehabilitation.
