Risk factors and protection against drug use: knowledge of public school students

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the risk and protective factors for drug use among students of a municipal school in Vitoria - ES. This is a descriptive, exploratory, with a population of 500 students enrolled in 2011. Of students, 62.5% report that talk about drugs with their parents decreases the chances of consuming, 41.7% report living with family and / or friends users makes them more vulnerable to use. Still, 70.8% of these reported that high self esteem prevents the use of PAS. Therefore, to develop prevention activities to the use of PAS, first it is necessary to know the attitudes and beliefs of students as well as school, family and community.
