QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH IN SOCIOLOGY: RESOURCES AND DILEMMAS OF CARRYING OUT ONLINE SURVEYS WITH WORKERS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

In this research report, we discuss the conception of a research design to carry out a survey on workers in the automotive industry in the south of Rio de Janeiro, considering on the conditions for accomplishing the investigation and on the need to revise both the data collection and the research tool under the impact of COVID-19, as well as we evaluate the sample design and the dissemination strategies related to the survey form. We provide an assessment of limits and possibilities to online forms to sociological research, and appraise the impacts of dissemination platforms for reaching the sample, arguing for the importance of tools driven at potentiating personal and professional contacts, such as LinkedIn, to achieve scientific objectives on worker-related investigations.
