Plastic packagings for cold stored ‘flordaprince’ peaches

Peaches cv. Flordaprince were stored at 1 ± 1oC and 85-90% relative humidity, in different plastic packings, for periods of 14 and 28 days. The treatments were: PVC film, high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene and the control (without packing). It was verified that fruits of this cultivar supported storage for periods of 14 days, while after 28 days of cold storage there was a high incidence of chilling injury ("woolliness") in fruits. The use of plastic packings reduced the weight loss during cold storage. The low density polyethylene maintained the pulp firmness higher during the refrigeration period.
