Rethinking the nationality of transnational enterprises

This article discusses the importance of the nationality of enterprises based on the international relations' literature. Empirical results presented here contribute to the international literature of political economy as they explain the behavior towards the environment of transnational enterprises in "developing countries" by their own nationality. Brazilian subsidiaries of transnational enterprises are investigated, resulting in findings that confirm the influence of the context of origin in environment-related corporate policies and practices, in terms of the definition of legal patterns and management style.
