State and market in globalization: the reformulation of relations between politics and economy

This article discusses some of the main aspects of the relations between market and State in the context of economic globalization. After a brief presentation of modalities of articulation between State-nations and capitalism in the past, the article emphasizes the impact of globalization processes on State functions and organization, using a double perspective: that of the transformation of State capacities as the effect of the actors' growing interconnections and interdependencies and that of the functionality of some State decisions which aim to propel globalization.
