Melastomataceae in the Ecological Reserve of Macaé de Cima, Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: I. Tribes Bertolonieae, Merianieae and Microlicieae

ABSTRACT

A study of the taxonomic diversity of Melastomataceae in the Ecological Reserve of Macaé de Cima, covering the tribes Bertolonieae, Merianieae and Microlicieae is presented. Eleven species and one variety within six genera were studied: Behuria (2 spp.), Bertolonia (1 sp. and 1 var.), Bisglaziovia (1 sp.), Huberia (4 spp.), Meriania (2 spp.), and Trembleya (1 sp.). Identification keys for the taxa are also provided, as well as descriptions, illustrations, geographic distribution data and comments about their morphological particularities. Behuria glazioviana, Huberia parvifolia and H. triplinervis are endemic to Macaé de Cima and, together with Bertolonia grazielae, Behuria corymbosa, Bisglaziovia behurioides and H. minor, are endemic to the state of Rio de Janeiro. Meriania claussenii and Trembleya parviflora represent new occurrences to the study area.
