Agroecological and agroforestry food production from a Marxist perspective

Abstract:

The present text proposes to initiate a debate based on Marx's social theory about the potential and limits of agroecology and agroforestry techniques, especially those influenced by the principles of the Swiss Ernst Götsch, which has great resonance in Brazil. It is also an attempt to bring to Social Service external debates, whose theoretical-methodological, critical and Marxian roots hue of the profession, enlightens over technicist perspectives of society. The contradiction between technical relations and social relations is treated here as a channel to discuss how much technical relations are subsumed to the social form of capital. It is intended to demonstrate that such subsumption also occurs with agroecological and agroforestry techniques, acting as a barrier to their spread and putting in check the social system of capital, which fails to meet the social demand for healthy food for all.
