Abstract
The article addresses the application of verbal autopsy by Forensic Social Workers in the investigation of situations of violence, in response to requests from the Criminal Prosecutor's Office for Gender Violence in the period 2021-2022. This methodology, used in the investigation of femicides, involves conducting interviews with family members and friends of the victim to gather information on the relationships and circumstances prior to the violent event. The findings presented in the article show the relevance of this technique in the expert process, while providing knowledge to understand the phenomenon of violence against women. The verbal autopsy allows to know details of the dynamics of violence in the environment where the event occurred. In this way, it is possible to identify patterns and risk factors that contributed to the violent event and that can be addressed by prevention policies and programs.
