Abstract:
The present research aims to approach neoliberalism from Christophe Dejours perspective on the elements that keep it in operation, despite its perverse effects. According to the author, indifference to his suffering resulting from it would result not only from the logic of the market itself, but from the psychic behaviour of individuals, who, in response to it, produce survival strategies to withstand suffering and, thus, continue to work without getting ill. The key to the problem would rest in the work itself, in the efforts to adapt to the suffering imposed on and by work in the neoliberal context that are extended to other spheres of life, resulting in negative social and political consequences.
