ABSTRACT
The text deals with the intersections between the works of Sérgio Milliet, the São Paulo art critic and member of the group of modernist intellectuals, and Roger Bastide, a member of the French Mission of Professors of USP, professor in Sociology. The text identifies and analyzes crosses between the works of both, besides texts of newspapers and articles of circumstance. The crosses reveal the concordances, disagreements and different approaches of the two intellectuals, both in their role as intellectuals and sociologists, as in literary criticism and art criticism, as well as visions about the Brazilian culture.
