POLITICAL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ANGEVINS AND ARAGONESE’S IN PALERMO ON THE CHRONICLE OF SICILY (13TH-14TH CENTURIES): CONNECTED HISTORY EXERCISE

Abstract

This paper proposes to analyze Cronicon siculum about the History of Sicily. This chronicle covers the History of the Island from immemorial times to the present with special attention to the conflicts between Palermitans, Angevins and Aragonese through the Sicilian Vespers (1282). The main question is: Does global/connected History be able to analyze these conflicts? The method consists to applicate concepts like middle seas, mediation and political communication. The conclusions draw on the usefulness of the conceptual apparatus and the perspective of connected history and point to the “triple use” of conflict in the Island.
