The study seeks to understand how the nursing staff carry out their professional practices guided by human. It is a qualitative research conducted in a pediatric oncology inpatient unit of a general hospital in Rio Grande do Sul. The study subjects were nurses and nursing technicians, totaling eleven professionals. The analysis was carried out through three categories: understanding of humanization of achievement in practice and raising suggestions for a humane work. We conclude that each professional determines how to carry out their practices to make the humanized care, however this requires active listening and interpersonal relationships consolidated through discussion and regular meetings.
