Spaces of transnational migration: a sociodemographic profile of African migrants in Brazil in the 21st century

Abstract

This paper aims to build a sociodemographic profile of African immigration to Brazil. It builds on the theory of transnational migration that enables us to analyze transformations arising from the international division of labor as well as from processes that occur within national borders. Methodologically, administrative records of several Brazilian institutions are used: the Federal Police, the National Committee for Refugees and the Annual Report of Social Information of the Secretariat of Labor.
