The Venezuelan exodus as a South-South migration phenomenon

Abstract.

This article analyzes contemporary international migration from Venezuela to Brazil from the perspective of South-South migration, as a process of exodus permeated by reconfigurations in the socio-spatial migratory dynamics. From Brazil's point of view, it is possible to understand the existence of different modalities in this migratory flow over the last decade, either by the demographic and spatial recomposition of this population or by the redefinition of the existing migratory statuses in a scenario of dispute over categories, institutional agency and the regulation and management of migration. From the public administrative records, we can see the need for a critical theoretical and methodological overview of the topic that acknowledges the complexity of the ongoing phenomenon and promotes the assurance of human rights principles.
