Immigrants and the São Paulo city: interaction and sociability ways

Abstract

The main goal of this article is to investigate interaction and sociability ways of Latin American immigrants who live in São Paulo city, the context of greater international migratory presence in Brazil. For this, we used the participant observation research technique, following the development of communication vehicles of six groups, collectives and immigrant associations, for about one year. As a theoretical-methodological resource, we adopted the idea of communication as a tie/bond, according to Sodré (2014)SODRÉ, Muniz. A ciência do comum - Notas para o método comunicacional. Petrópolis: Vozes, 2014., in dialogue with the concept of mediator, by Gilberto Velho (2010)VELHO, Gilberto. Metrópole, cosmopolitismo e mediação.
