Piroeletricidade e emissão de infravermelho distante da turmalina

A three dimensional rigid ball computer model of the tourmaline crystal structure shows that anharmonic oscillations are imposed to the W site. This can theoretically explain both the pyroelectricity and the far infrared emission of tourmaline. Nevertheless, these effects should be small. Measurements of their magnitudes are necessary to explain the industrial use of tourmaline powder.
