Influence of resistance exercises order on body composition in older men

This study analyzed the influence of resistance exercises on body composition among elderly males. Eighteen men (69 ± 5 years) were randomly assigned to two groups. One group performed sequence A (SEQ A), starting from large to small muscle groups; the other group performed sequence B (SEQ B), set up in the inverse order as the first (SEQ A). The intervention was carried out for seven weeks, consisting of two sets of 10 to 15 maximum repetitions, three times a week. Before and after the intervention, the groups were submitted to body composition measurements using the bioelectrical impedance technique. No statistically significant differences (P > 0.05) were found between SEQ A and SEQ B for any of the analyzed variables. The results suggest that the order in which the resistance exercises were performed does not influence responses of body composition in older men.
