SOCIAL DOMAIN OF QUALITY OF LIFE OF ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH BEHAVIORAL, BIOLOGICAL AND OCIODEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to analyze the social relationships domain of the quality of life of adolescents and associated factors. A total of 608 adolescents (369 females), 14-19 years, from Lapa, Paraná, Brazil, participated in the study. Body mass and stature were measured for computing the body mass index. For the assessment of quality of life, physical activity, alcohol consumption and socioeconomic status were used, respectively, the WHOQOL-Bref, IPAQ, AUDIT and CCEB questionnaires. Data analyses included the Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test and binary Logistic Regression (p<0.05). The mean values of overall quality of life and of the social relationships domain were 67.3 and 72.7, respectively. Sedentary (OR=1.63), obese (OR=3.93) and freshman high school students (OR=1.79) were more likely to have negative perception social relationships domain. These findings indicate that actions to promote the quality of life of adolescents must consider the physical activity level, body mass index and scholar grade.
