STUDENTS' PERCEPTION ABOUT PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES AT SECONDARY SCHOOL

This study seeks to survey students' perception of physical education classes in high school, the central issue being: Is the curricular experience of physical education perceived as positive by the students? For such an investigation, we conducted a survey using a sample of 1,084 from a population of 8,157 high school students in the state school network in the Petrópolis municipality. The literature on the theme shows the majority of students' views that physical education as a positive experience. Our research confirms this perception and presents an advance in relation to the other research works on this theme: the creation of an Indicator of Satisfaction with Physical Education (ISPE). We verified that gender, skill in sports, practicing sports or physical activity outside school, participation in the choice of class content, and absence of disorganization in the class, exert strong impact on chances of satisfaction with physical education.
