Towards a new frame to overcome the shadows of institutional feminism

Abstract:

Women’s policy agencies were created to provide an institutional response to the situation of structural injustice suffered by women. These organizations have spread throughout the planet and their role in challenging the patriarchal status quo has been questioned by some sectors of the women's movements, which detect serious deficiencies in their functioning. The article gathers the essential points of the feminist discussion and focuses on the main criticisms that prevents the development of the ethical potential of institutional feminism. The article suggests the approach of social accountability with a gender perspective and rereads this framework through the ethical categories that are at its base: structural injustice, responsibility, representation and power.
