This article describes the work done among teachers of Movimento Brasileiro de Alfabetização, MOBRAL (Brazilian Campaign of Adult Education), by a nurse instructor of the University of São Paulo School of Nursing and her students. The purposes were: 1. to find out the information needed by such teachers in order to divulge some health knowledge among the MOBRAL pupils; 2. to offer nursing students opportunity to work with the community; 3. to accomplish one of the objectives of the University, the extension of services to the community.
