This exploratory research investigated the profile of elderly people assisted by a team of the Family Health Program (FHP) in Goiânia, in 2003. 75 elderly people participated, who were examined and interviewed. Female prevalence was identified (68%) as well as of people aged 60-64, married or widows/widowers, illiterate or semi-literate individuals, those who live with someone else (92%), indicated arterial hypertension (64%), pain (68%), and had no cognitive alteration (80%). Considering that some of these results are different from the literature, it is necessary that the teams of FHP carry out a study of the population of their respective areas of comprehension, in order to act in a more assertive way.
