Environmental Education and Environmental Management in ativo Mossoró of RN/CE Unit of Petrobras

The environmental issue has sparked interest in communities, in the media, in academic areas. Studies in several areas are done with this theme, but the discussions do not approach the same focus. In Administration, for example, the changes related to environmental aspects are usually discussed and stimulated by groups that, in general, work with Socio-environmental Responsibility, Sustainability and Environmental Management. The communication and the attempt to mobilize the members that are part of this process in the company are basically treated in terms of people training. In Education, in Environmental Education 'subarea', studies related to environmental changes are consolidated, articulated with social cultural aspects. However, there is no consolidated integration between these areas. The aim of this work was to analyze the practice of Environmental Education and Environmental Management in a Petrochemical company, reflecting about the knowledge manifested by workers. For this, based in an interpretativist approach, it was made a case study made in Ativo Mossoró of Unidade RN/CE of Petrobras, with questionnaires, document analysis and interviews. In the case study, workers and company's conceptions of Environmental Education, Environment, Sustainable Development, Environmental Management were identified. Besides, it was noticed dialogic elements, characterized as those that are at the same time competitive, antagonistic and complementary, such as the company business versus environmental preoccupation; results obtained in this study through quantitative methods versus qualitative methods; theoretical fundaments in Environmental Education versus theoretical fundaments in Environmental Management; and the theory versus practice under the view of academic versus business context.
