ACADEMIC DEBATES ON THE STATE AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND THE TYPE OF PREDOMINANT STATE IN ARGENTINA (1990-2018)

The present article – fundamentally of a descriptive nature – aims to reflect on the links between the trend of academic debates in Argentina and in the period 1990-2018; and the predominant type of State. To this end, in the first instance, we will characterize the thematic orientations (bureaucracy, state and administrative reform, state taxation, public policies, regulation and control of public services, public enterprises, among others) that have had the discussions and debates on the State and public administration in academia in Argentina in the aforementioned period. This period has been characterized by different types of State: first, the neoliberal State and later, the neo-developmentalist and interventionist State in the economic and social spheres, connected by a State considered transitional, such as the one that lasted from 2001 to 2003. In order to achieve this objective, academic works from different databases corresponding to scientific journals in the field of Political Science and Public Administration; specialized libraries; and papers presented at congresses of the specialty were surveyed and classified.
