ABSTRACT

This research aims to identify and relate the transaction attributes and behavioral assumptions in light of the economic transaction cost theory in the saline segment of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The qualitative, descriptive and cross-sectional approach was used. It was developed multi case study of three companies through semi-structured interview with the managers responsible for purchases. The interviews were transcribed and imported into Atlas.ti 8.2 software. After coding, codes were classified into groups to later generate families and networks. The findings showed that there is an incidence of asset specificity: Locational, Physical, Dedicated, Human, Brand and Temporal, which favors the frequency of transactions, represented by the continuity of relationships with suppliers, which leads to a reduction in the limited rationality of the assets. agents involved and, consequently, decreased uncertainty and inhibition of opportunistic behavior. This fact is due to the recurrence of the relationship between salines and its suppliers, which creates trust and confidence between the parties. It was noticed that the most influential factor in reducing transaction costs for the saline sector is the frequency due to the asset specificity itself.
