Neoliberalism as the "de-democratization" of labour

Abstract

The neoliberalism is as a project of “de-democratization of labour”, that is, a project that strongly attacks the potentialities of labour. This paper investigates, then, the three main drivers of this attack on labour: the neo-managerial organization of labour, the dissolution of labor law within competition law, especially in the European Union, and the reconfiguration of class, gender, and race relations in the international division of labor. The article proposes that from this investigation it is possible to consider certain conditions for an alternative labor politics that confronts this project, being anti-capitalist, antipatriarchal, and antiracist.
