Land use and rice cultivars intercropped with palisade grass rice in the Cerrado

Evaluation of new rice cultivars intercropped with palisade grass (Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu) in the no tillage system will allow the identification of materials better adapted to this system without reduction in grain yield. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield of upland rice cultivars in sole and intercropped cropping systems with palisade grass and two soil management systems (conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage system (NTS). The experimental design was a randomized block design in a factorial arrangement: 2 (cropping systems) x 2 (soil management systems) x 5 (cultivars). The experiment was carried out in the Cerrado region in Ipameri-GO. The intercropping of upland rice cultivars Primavera, BRSMG Curinga, Caiapó and BRS Bonança with palisade grass did not affect grain yield. Upland rice cultivars Primavera, BRSMG Curinga and Caiapó can be grown both in NTS and CT without affecting grain yield of the crop. Dry biomass of palisade grass was affected by the intercrop with upland rice cultivars.

Oryza sativa; no-tillage system; soil management; crop livestock integration
