First report of Plesiophysa guadeloupensis ("Fischer" Mazé) in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This paper deals with the first report of Plesiophysa guadeloupensis (" Fischer" Mazé, 1883) from Rio de Janeiro State, in the municipality of Itaocara. The gastropods were collected at a swamp situated in the district of Jaguarembé in April-May 2003 and March 2005. Other species found together with P. guadeloupensis are mentioned, as well as some physical and chemical characteristics of the water (pH, dissolved oxygen and temperature), and the geographical distribution of the genus Plesiophysa in Brazil.
