Tendency in the commercialization of calves in Rio Grande do Sul related to your genetic characteristics

This work aimed at to characterize the effects of the dependent aspects of the genetics of the calves marketed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, as form of verifying the influence of these in the sale price. They were collected at 13 municipal auction of calves in the State, referring data to the predominant genetic group, size and musculature of the animals of 739 lots of animals corresponding to 11,986 heads. They were evaluate for the price obtained by kg of live weight, liquidity percentage and the valorization of the calf during the commercialization. The calves without genetic predominance still demonstrate great frequency in the auction of RS. However, these animals have less buyer's preference because they show small liquidity in relation to the other affered groups. The calves of the synthetic genetic group (Braford, Brangus or Canchim) obtained larger prices for kg of live weight and larger valorization. For size characteristics and muscular development, the big and strong calves had larger liquidity in relation to animals of medium or small structure, obtaining larger price and valorization for kg of live weight.
