Contribution of Photovoltaic Systems Connected to the Electrical Network for Reducing CO2 in the State of Ceará

Abstract

The energy issue has significant meaning in the context of the pursuit of sustainable development, being an essential condition to find alternative ways to replace the use of fossil fuels. The state of Ceará has potential for the use of renewable energy, especially wind and solar. The objective of this paper is to analyze the contribution of the distributed generation of photovoltaic systems, connected to the grid, which provide the reduction of CO2 emissions in the state of Ceará. Was used installed power information by National Electric Energy Agency (NEEA) and the data of generated energy and the carbon dioxide emissions avoided were estimated from the use of Distributed Generation (DG) by solar photovoltaic source. This research made possible the knowledge of DG from solar photovoltaic source in the Ceará, generating alternatives to subsidize the decision making of incentives, through governmental plans and programs, for the implantation of photovoltaic systems of micro and mini-generation of energy, which contribute to the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases (GG) in the atmosphere.
