The present work aims at a comparative analysis of the "sphere" notions, Bakhtin (1992, 1999), and of the "discursive space", Pêcheux (1997), with the intention of elucidating the treatment these authors give to spatiality. It shows that even though there might be considerable points of contact, "sphere" and "discursive space" diverge when intercrossed with other concepts developed in the ambit of the Dialogical Theory and of the French line of Speech Analysis (SA).
