To destroy the memory and demolish patrimony: some questions about History and its teaching

Abstract:

The article reflects on some meanings attributed to memory and heritage in order to broaden the discussions about their uses for history and its teaching. Next, the analyses are directed to problematize the Marabá Marrocos Cine as a ‘place of memory’ and cultural heritage. From the reflections developed and the documents mobilized, it was possible to show the importance and the need to deconstruct the crystallized meanings - which are presented and represented - by the memory and sedimented by the heritage to understand them as historical constructions and to extend the possibilities of their uses in research and or teaching history.
